Professional Bio

Dr. Sathian is a cognitive neurologist and neuroscientist. His clinical interests are in cognitive neurology; he sees patient with cognitive disorders associated with aging or concussions. His research interests are in multisensory perception, interfaces between perception and language and cognitive neurorehabilitation; his research relies on psychophysical methods and functional magnetic resonance imaging (fMRI). He is Chair of Neurology, Professor of Neurology, Neural & Behavioral Sciences and Psychology, and Director of the Penn State Neuroscience Institute. His research has been funded by the NIH, NSF, VA, and private foundations. A Past President of the American Society for Neurorehabilitation (2012-14), he is a Fellow of the American Neurological Association, the American Society of Neurorehabilitation, the American Academy of Neurology, and the Royal College of Physicians of London.
