Professional Bio

Briah is a second-year doctoral student working with Dr. Dawn Witherspoon in the Context and Development Lab. She received her Bachelor's of Science in Psychology with a minor in Sociology from Howard University. Her research interests surround the development of self-beliefs in Black adolescents with a focus on race-related stress, coping, and self-efficacy. She is also interested in how these developmental processes vary by neighborhood and community context, as well as how they impact health behaviors later in life. Briah is committed to staying engaged in the communities she works with. She is currently the teaching assistant for PACT, a research initiative working with the diverse communities in the Harrisburg area A primary goal of Briah’s research is to elucidate the developmental process of Black Americans and promote positive aging over the lifespan.
