Professional Bio

Maddie is a fifth-year graduate student working with Dr. Kristin Buss. She is pursuing the dual-title PhD in Developmental Psychology and Social and Behavioral Neuroscience, with a certificate in Translational Science. She received her bachelor's degree in Psychology from Cornell College in 2020 and her Master's degree in Clinical and Developmental Research from Vanderbilt University in 2022. She is broadly interested in advancing the early detection of risk for anxiety and depression in youth. Specifically, she is interested in understanding the development of social threat and reward processing and emotion regulation across childhood and adolescence, particularly how these neurodevelopmental processes shape how youth interact with and experience their social environment. A lot of her work has focused on how digital media use and temperament relate to adolescents' internalizing symptoms.
