Professional Bio
Dr. Lauren Parker is an Assistant Clinical Professor of Psychology at Penn State, a Licensed Professional Counselor, and a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor. She earned her Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision and her M.Ed. in Counselor Education, with emphases in Clinical Mental Health in Schools and Communities and Rehabilitation Counseling, from Penn State. She also has additional training in Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT). Lauren enjoys working with people from diverse backgrounds and has clinical experience providing individual and group services across the lifespan, with particular experience working with older adolescents and adults. Her work has addressed a range of mental and behavioral health concerns, including mood and anxiety disorders, co-occurring substance use concerns, personality disorders, psychosis-related concerns, interpersonal difficulties, and adjustment and life transition difficulties. Her clinical approach is trauma-informed and integrative, drawing from cognitive behavioral, psychodynamic, and motivational interviewing interventions. Lauren values a collaborative, thoughtful, and strengths-based approach to therapy that attends to each client’s lived experience, goals, and broader context.
