Professional Bio
Carlos is a first-year graduate student in the Developmental Psychology program working with Dr. Dawn Witherspoon in the Context and Development Lab. Carlos graduated with a B.A. in Psychology from Swarthmore College. He then worked as a lab manager for Dr. Amanda Tarullo's Brain and Early Experiences Lab at Boston University, overseeing a multi-site longitudinal randomized controlled trial for low-income English and Spanish-speaking families which examined the effects of evidence-based parent coaching interventions on family functioning and developmental outcomes, and barriers to engagement with such interventions. Broadly, he is interested in how positive parental, cultural, and neighborhood characteristics buffer against the adverse effects of poverty and disadvantage on adolescent development.
