Assignment 4 :  Interview Volunteers
 Due Nov. 13.

Select a person who is currently volunteering.

  1. Learn about the organization where your volunteer works.  Ask about their roles, jobs.
  2. Ask your volunteer the reasons why they volunteer.
    1. Are the reasons why they continue to volunteer the same as the reasons that they decided to volunteer?
    2. Do these reasons match any of the 6 functions Clary et al. identify
    3. Have them complete the functions questionnaire.  Give them their scores and see what they think about their scores and the functions.  (Report means from the subscales).
  1.  Ask them about their satisfaction with the volunteer experience.  Determine the extent to which their satisfaction is a function of the match or mismatch with the reasons they volunteer.

Write a 3 to 5 page summary of your interview.  You will be graded based your ability to respond to the above points as well as the clarity that you understand the functions of volunteering and the implications of these functions.

Provide the name and contact information (phone & email, if available) for your volunteer and the name and contact information (phone and address, email if available) of the organization where the person volunteers.  This will be used to verify the person as a current volunteer, if we feel we need to do this.
