Degree Options
Requirements for the Dual Degree
Psychology*:
- 18 credits in psychology area (Clinical, Cognitive, Developmental, I/O,
Social)
- English language requirement
- 6 credit stats sequence (taken first year)
- Master's thesis
- Dissertation
* Clinical students must also complete the
Clinical Area graduate requirements
Women's Studies:
- WMNST 501, 502, 507
- 9 additional credits Women's Studies course work
Other Requirements:
- The M.S. committee must be comprised of at least three faculty members, two
from the student's area and one from a different area within psychology.
However, there must also be a Women's Studies faculty member on the committee.
- The student must submit a portfolio of work in Women's Studies at the time
of advancement to candidacy, including a statement of interdisciplinary
research interests, a program plan, and samples of writing from work in Women's
Studies.
- The doctoral committee must include at least two Women's Studies Faculty,
who will be responsible for administering a comprehensive examination in
Women's Studies.
- All research for the M.S. and Ph.D. must be relevant to
Women's Studies.
Women's Studies Graduate Minor Requirements
For those interested in Women's Studies, but not in the Dual Degree, there is
the Women's Studies Graduate Minor. The minor is available for all students in
psychology. The requirements for psychology are the same as above, and the
Women's Studies requirements are as follows:
- WMNST 501 and 507
- 3 additional credits in Women's Studies
